Michael Cocca began his career by purchasing his aunt's restaurant in Green Island and launching Michael's Catering Service. During the 1970s and 1980s, he helped redefine wedding catering in the Capital Region by introducing elevated cocktail hours, elegant presentations, fine dining service, and a level of hospitality that set a new standard.Throughout his career, Michael has earned numerous industry awards for culinary excellence and community service. He remains active in organizations including Chaine des Rotisseurs, the Escoffier Society, the American Culinary Federation, and the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
In 1981, Michael Fusco joined Franklin Plaza as a dishwasher, learning every aspect of the business through hard work, dedication, and a passion for hospitality. His rise through the organization reflects the values that continue to define Franklin Plaza today.Together, Cocca and Fusco acquired the historic Franklin Plaza Ballroom in 1992, transforming the former Troy City National Bank into one of the Capital Region's premier wedding and event venues. Their continued investment led to the addition of the Franklin Plaza Hotel and Franklin Terrace Ballroom, helping revitalize downtown Troy while creating memorable experiences for generations of guests.
